Launceston Offices Design Competition
August 25, 2021
Earlier in 2021, JAWS Architects were invited to propose a design for offices in Launceston. Focused on designing an elegant, spatially rich and flexible building, we set about creating a health hub closely aligned with the client’s brand values. The building is to read as two overlapping forms from the street, reducing the apparent mass of the building, with retention of the existing façade. Utilising a Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) construction for columns, cross bracing and flooring system, this innovative building material offers environmental, thermal and energy efficient advantages. The internal spatial layout promotes health and wellbeing for office workers and visitors alike, with biophilic design principles guiding the design at all stages of concept development.
