The Kingston Beach Surf Club is a multi-use community facility comprising the Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club, a commercial restaurant, new public change facilities.
Despite its narrow frontage, the site is centrally located to the beach, ideally suited for the Surf Club to observe all areas of the beach efficiently and the Restaurant positioned to enable maximum frontage to the street. Surf Club facilities are spread over two levels, with the second floor and folded roof wrapping over the restaurant and public amenities on the ground floor.
A First Aid Room and storage for boards and other surf craft is located at the rear of the building, with a discreet stair providing wet-foot access up to the clubhouse deck. The First Floor contains the club’s training facilities, a large meeting space and a patrol room overlooking the beach.
A veranda wraps the clubhouse to provide a linking space used for circulation, observation and recreation whilst a Timber screen veils the northern façade to prevent overlooking of the adjacent property, provide summer sun protection and allow controlled views out.
The facility will provide a place for all ages to enjoy Kingston Beach, meeting Council’s vision for a vibrant contemporary community facility carefully integrated into the beach-side precinct.
