The Tahune Airwalk has endured as one of Tasmania’s most popular visitor attractions. Located near Geeveston, and 1 hour and 20 minutes south of Hobart, the Airwalk’s feature attraction is its impressive steel walkway that transports visitors from the forest floor to a leafy canopy above the Huon River.
This innovative steel walkway averages in height between 20-30 metres above the forest floor, culminating in a cantilevered section that floats 50 metres above the river. The Airwalk experience enables visitors to encounter the giant eucalypts of southern Tasmania’s cool temperate rainforests in an intimate, compelling way. The Airwalk experience is further complemented by interpretive and visitor activities on site, including forest walks, cable hang gliding and a visitor centre.
The Airwalk is accessed via 112 gradual concrete steps, with places for visitors to sit, contemplate and rest along the way.
