The headquarters for MyState and Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees in central Hobart is a project of corporate community and unity. The new development brings together the organisations’ staff from a number of office locations across the CBD and unites the two entities under one roof, occupying all three levels of the building.

Special care was taken during the design phase to create a positive, coherent working environment for staff and clients. We achieved this by introducing an open plan layout, with flexible breakout and meeting spaces. An internal stair links the three levels, creating opportunities for people to meet, interact and exchange information on an informal basis.

To create a stimulating environment in the general office area, we coupled bold contrasts in materials with neutral colours, and used further colour highlights to create a relaxed atmosphere within the workspace. Accent colours used in the break out areas and kitchen give the space an element of energy and excitement. The reception area is fitted with a random patchwork of timbers, drawing on the striking views of kunanyi/Mt Wellington and its dramatic dolerite columns. This development also had a strong focus on sourcing local and environmentally friendly materials—reflecting our client’s desire to support their local community and environment.
