JAWS Architects were engaged by Larmenier Catholic College to reconfigure the Administration and Reception areas to provide a clearly defined and welcoming entry for staff, students and visitors.
The aim was to create a more logical entry sequence which is clearly identifiable form the car park, and to reconfigure the school’s internal spaces so that the administration area is better located to address visitors to the school, in addition to servicing the students as needed.
The approach was to utilize the scale of existing spaces where possible and relocate functions to increase connectivity. In order to maintain a functioning school, the decanting of spaces as well as access and circulation within existing buildings had to be carefully considered as part of the project program.
The works within the existing building fabric include re-configuring of the library and creation of staff room, staff facilities and circulation to cater for an increased capacity, as well as provision of a new break-out area and extension to the existing deck, resulting in a warm and engaging interior ambience for learners and a calming retreat space for teachers.
